Here at the RX, we’ve been all about the new BlakRoc album, which features The Black Keys laying down blues-rock riffs and meaty beats behind a stable of hip-hop heads including Q Tip, Mos Def, RZA, ODB, Jim Jones and Ludacris.

Naturally, Kathleen O’Brien selected BlakRoc as her Staff Pick of the Week and waxes philosophic on the album here:

Okay, I’m not here to talk about the BlakRoc special edition Chevy Camaro, but the music. As much of it as we listen to every day, it has to be something different to catch my ear. This CD did just that. It’s a beautiful, and sometimes unexpected, blending of vocals and instrumentals, with just enough spontaneity to bring the music to life, and enough funk to keep you moving.

Don’t take my word for it — come into the store and listen to it, then let us know what you think.
