RX Manager John O’Neil selected Cucu Diamantes‘ Cuculand as his Staff Pick of the Week. Diamantes is better known as the singer-composer of Latin fusion favorites Yerba Buena, but John says this solo turn is turning heads in the store.
“People come in looking for foreign language records, but rarely do they react to them when they come on in the store,” John says. “I’ve sold several copies of Cuculand since we started playing it. It’s got a unique, Latin tropical pop thing. There are unusual things going on, but Cucu makes them sound not so unusual.”
